A Delightful American Feast At PS.Cafe With USDA Ingredients

Share Article

This July, PS.Cafe has brought a taste of America to Singapore, partnering with the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) to offer an exclusive menu celebrating some of the most beloved American dishes. My recent visit to PS.Cafe to try out this collaboration was nothing short of delightful, with each dish showcasing premium USDA-certified ingredients and a unique PS.Cafe twist.

PS.Cafe – Tacos That Surprise

The Beef Tacos ($19) were a wonderful start to my dining experience. Each taco was filled with tender USDA-certified beef, perfectly complemented by smashed avocado, chipotle mayonnaise, and pico de gallo. The addition of fresh lime juice added a zest that elevated the flavours. I was pleasantly surprised by how well the ingredients came together, creating a dish that was both satisfying and refreshing. The soft taco shell added a nice contrast to the juicy beef and creamy avocado, making each bite a delightful mix of textures and tastes.

PS.Cafe – Tender, Bone-Free Ribs

Next on my list were the Slow-Braised BBQ Short Ribs ($45). These ribs were a highlight of the meal—succulent, tender, and completely boneless. The PS. BBQ sauce glazed over the ribs added a rich, smoky flavour, perfectly paired with a side of parmesan-sprinkled sweetcorn. The corn, infused with garlic and onion powder, provided a delightful contrast to the hearty beef. This dish was a testament to the quality of USDA-certified beef and PS.Cafe’s culinary expertise. The ribs were so tender that they practically melted in my mouth, and the sweetcorn added a wonderful burst of sweetness and crunch to the dish.

PS.Cafe – An Apple Pie to Remember

No American-themed meal is complete without a classic apple pie, and PS.Cafe’s version did not disappoint. The Apple Pie served with Cornbread Crumble and Vanilla Ice Cream ($18) was deliciously indulgent. Made with two USDA-certified apple varieties—Granny Smith and Royal Gala—the pie offered a perfect balance of tartness and crunch. Although it was a bit challenging to eat neatly, the mess was well worth it for the delightful flavours. Each bite was a blend of sweet, tart, and creamy goodness, making it a perfect end to the meal. The cornbread crumble added a unique texture that paired beautifully with the smooth vanilla ice cream.

PS.Cafe – A Refreshing Cocktail

To complement my meal, I tried the Popcorn Sour ($22), a Hollywood-inspired cocktail. Crafted with Maker’s Mark whiskey, lemon juice, and popcorn syrup, this drink showcased the iconic flavour of popcorn, complemented by a red wine float for a richer taste. It was a perfect blend of sweet and sour, with the popcorn syrup adding a delightful twist that made this cocktail both unique and refreshing.

PS.Cafe – Classic Comfort: The P.S. Burger

While I explored the special menu, my friend opted for the classic P.S. Burger ($32), and he was not disappointed. This burger features an Australian barley-fed angus patty, vintage cheddar, wilted spinach, smoked bacon, tomato, crispy onions, all nestled in a toasted sesame bun. It is served with a side of crispy shoestring fries. The angus patty was juicy and flavourful, perfectly complemented by the sharpness of the vintage cheddar and the smoky bacon. The wilted spinach and fresh tomato added a touch of freshness, while the crispy onions provided a delightful crunch. The toasted sesame bun was soft yet sturdy, holding all the ingredients together perfectly. The shoestring fries were crispy and golden, making them the perfect accompaniment to the hearty burger.

PS.Cafe – What I Missed

While I thoroughly enjoyed the dishes I tried, there were some items on the menu that I didn’t get the chance to experience. The Pulled Pork Burger ($28) promises a fresh take on the classic American hamburger with USDA-certified pulled pork, apple and parsnip slaw, and apple compote on a soft charcoal bun.

Unfortunately, I missed out on the Chilli Con Carne Roll ($28), an Americanised twist on PS.Cafe’s Weekend Brunch special. This dish features a savoury USDA-certified beef sausage nestled within a soft bun, served with potato salad for a creamy side dish to finish. It’s a decadent option that brunch enthusiasts should not miss.
