bamboo bowls, the future-forward and healthy food bowl concept that seeks to make quick, chef-curated food accessible to all, announces the opening of its third outlet at Plaza 8 @ CBP. The community of professionals living and working in the Changi Business Park district can now enjoy bamboo bowls’ unique tech-enabled contactless experience with a variety of delicious and healthy Asian-inspired food bowls that are sugar-free, low on carb, gluten- and vegan-friendly, and served within five minutes.

bamboo bowls first launched in March 2022 at Far East Square with the mission of making healthy and fuss-free meals crafted by chefs readily accessible. It opened its second outlet shortly after in June 2022 at Science Park 2. With sustainability and taste in mind, each carefully curated bowl is made using only the freshest ingredients, and contains zero added sugar, refined or processed ingredients, made with ethically sourced produce whenever possible and served in compostable or recyclable packaging.

“With the opening of our first two outlets, we sought to bring food options to working professionals that, while convenient and healthy, do not compromise on taste and quality. Now, in the same vein, we are ecstatic to be able to deliver that same promise to yet another community of professionals in Changi Business Park, offering a futuristic, delicious dining experience that is friendly to our planet, whilst simultaneously reflecting the best of Asian cuisine,” said Allan Shieh, COO of bamboo bowls.

Step into the future

The new 110sqm outlet boasts a sleek, minimalistic interior reminiscent of its sister outlets with limited seating for up to 52. As part of the signature bamboo bowls experience, it will also offer guests a seamless and contactless way to order and enjoy their freshly prepared bowls under five minutes.

Diners define their own experience by ordering through the bamboo bowls mobile app where they select their desired bowl with the option to customise their orders according to their preference and budget, such as opting for a low-carb base or protein add-on. All base bowls are vegan or vegetarian and priced from an affordable $10.

A notification is sent to their phone when their orders are ready, and diners can proceed to collect their food with an easy tap on the app to activate a futuristic-looking pod that will rotate to reveal their ready-to-eat bowls.

Zero on sugar, big on flavours

bamboo bowls’ promise of a tasty, zero-sugar meal is achieved with the use of monk fruit, which is a perfect, natural replacement for sugar. Also known as luo han guo, the fruit native to southern China and used for centuries as a cold and digestive aid is used to derive a no-calorie alternative sweetener to sugar, safe for anyone from expectant, breastfeeding mothers to diabetic patients and fitness enthusiasts.

The menu consists of eight easily customisable bowls, each celebrating the unique flavours and culinary traditions of a city in Asia. One of the all-time highlights, Tokyo, is a modern take on a Japanese donburi that features cut wakame in a sugar-free teriyaki sauce, served with swathes of miso eggplant, ramen egg, pickled kyuri and homemade vegan wasabi mayo on a bed of Japanese brown rice. Guests can add-on a Simmered Pork Belly as their protein. Bangkok is a refreshing take on a legendary Thai dish that boasts a rich, red coconut curry served with fragrant cashews, sweet butternut pumpkin and spiced mushrooms on brown rice, with sous vide lemongrass chicken as a protein add-on.

Bali is an authentic Balinese treat serving grilled snake fruit lawar, marinated tofu, and sambal matah, topped with activated black candlenuts on perfectly cooked grains of sweet, nutty red rice, and a choice of grilled marinated prawns for protein.

In conjunction with the outlet’s opening, bamboo bowls will also launch a new bowl inspired by the cultural kaleidoscope of Taipei, featuring bb’s braised plant-based mince over pearl brown rice, soy-marinated egg, balanced with bok choy in garlic sauce, pickled cucumber and a choice of umami braised pork belly for a meaty add-on. The Taipei bowl will be available at all bamboo bowls outlets from 3 March.

Enter: A Dynamic Duo

Joining the bamboo bowls team as consultant chefs on their mission to make healthy, chef-crafted food even more accessible are two of Singapore’s most highly regarded culinary personalities. Damian D’Silva, Chef-Owner of Rempapa and father of local New Heritage cuisine, and award-winning Bjorn Shen, Chef-Owner of Artichoke, known for his eclectic takes on culinary styles and tradition, will work with bamboo bowls to oversee the culinary direction for the brand’s three outlets. Diners can expect in the pipeline interesting seasonal creations by both chefs that will only be available for a limited time.

D’Silva shared, “As a firm believer in preserving the soul of heritage and tradition, I am excited to work with the bamboo bowls team to bring out the spirit and stories that each of these Asian cities has to tell through ingredients and flavours distinctive and unique to them.”

“I’m thrilled to embark on this new journey with bamboo bowls. Healthy and convenient food need not be expensive nor compromise on taste, and I relish the challenge to turn that myth on its head and surprise diners with how incredibly delicious healthy food can be with a little creativity,” said Shen.
