Situated in the heart of the city, Courtyard by Marriott Singapore Novena is Marriott International’s latest luxurious offering in Singapore. A stone’s throw away from the upcoming Health City Novena, one of Singapore’s premier medical districts with some of the best hospitals and healthcare facilities available, guests of the Courtyard by Marriott Singapore Novena will also find that many of the city’s top highlights and sightseeing destinations are all easily within reach. Join us as we explore what this brand new hotel has to offer!
Due it its highly centralised location, getting to anywhere you desire in Singapore is really easy. Attractions nearby include the world-class Orchard Road shopping district, the Balestier district with its quaint mix of modern shopping malls and old-fashioned shophouses as well as the Singapore Botanic Gardens, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The best part – Courtyard by Marriott Singapore Novena is sited right on top of Novena MRT Station, giving you convenient access to all corners of the island through the extended subway network.
Your Courtyard by Marriott Singapore Novena experience begins in grand style, with a fast and stylish ride up to the 22nd floor on the express elevator that opens up into a bright and airy lobby.
Level 22 is one of the key activity areas of the hotel. You will do your check in here as well as mingle, do business, or just grab a bite to eat.
This level is also where SKY22 is located, the all-day dining restaurant that offers a unique mix of healthy and decadent offerings to suit any palate. We will share more of the dining later.
As we wait for our room to be ready, we checked out the other facilities, like the compact lobby bar conveniently located right next to reception, where waiting guests can have a coffee or a drink, as well as some light snacks. There is also a business centre with meeting spaces that can host up to 45 attendees.
The hotel has 250 rooms in total – all stylish and elegant, done up in a contemporary and modern style fitting for the Marriott brand.
The room did not disappoint. We enjoyed all the amenities you would expect from a good-quality business hotel, including luxurious Serta mattresses and beddings, a large 49” flatscreen TV with cable, a personal safe, USB wall outlets to charge your electronic devices, coffee and tea facilities, WiFi access (chargeable separately), and more.
The highlight of the room had to be the amazing view of the city from the room. Full-length bay windows coupled with comfortable sofa seating offers you the pleasure of spending your afternoon reading while appreciating the gorgeous panoramic view of the city.
Unfortunately, you probably can’t just sit around and stare out the window, because there’s so much more to do! Making our way up to the top floor on level 33, we decide to get active and check out the other facilities on offer, like the hotel’s rooftop infinity pool.
Stretching out for over 20 metres in length, the pool presents an even better view of the hotel’s surroundings, including the lush greenery of the nearby Central Catchment Reserve as well as MacRitchie Reservoir. With a bit of imagination, you could quite easily imagine yourself hidden away in some tropical island resort, and not in the heart of one of the busiest cities in the world! If you’re up for a quick workout, level 33 is also where you can find the fitness centre, which offers a variety of cardiovascular training equipment and free weights for strength training.
Time flies and soon it’s time for dinner. Heading back down to SKY22, we went for the buffet dinner ($48++ per person, $38++ per person for lunch buffet). What greeted us was a delicious spread of local and international fare, including cold cuts and cheeses, chicken curry, beef stew, pizzas, desserts and more.
SKY22 also offers a range of signature dishes that take inspiration from local cuisine like Blue Swimmer Crab Popiah ($10), Singapore Chili Crab Pizza ($26), SKY22 Tiger Prawn Laksa Lemak ($24), and SKY22 Bubur Cha-Cha Cup ($12).
For folks who are watching their waist a little more closely, SKY22 also offers a healthier B.Y.O.B (Build Your Own Bowl) concept which allows you to create a personalized healthy bowl of salad, vegetables, cold cuts and a selection of house dressings to suit your exact tastes.
After a sumptuous dinner and perhaps a little too much sweet endings, we decided to cap off the night by heading back to level 33 and check out the highest bar in the Novena district, Urbana. With nightfall having descended and the lights of the city twinkling in the distance, the rooftop bar and pool are completely transformed, offering a relaxing atmosphere to chill the night away with some of their signature drinks like the Moscow Mule (vodka, ginger beer, lime wedge) and the Watermelon Man (vodka, watermelon liquor, pineapple juice, fresh lemon juice and grenadine).
Breakfast the next day is served at SKY22 as well. We enjoyed a quality spread of international and local breakfast items and live stations.
Whether you’re a medical tourist, travelling on business or leisure, or just looking for a good place for a staycation, the Courtyard Marriott Singapore Novena is a great choice for your next visit to Singapore.
