Maduro Singapore, known for its love of classical music and live performances, has launched a new cocktail menu titled The Trouble Clef. Nine unique cocktails are set to take guests on an experiential journey inspired by jazz pianist and Founder of Maduro, Peter Ng (fondly known as Mr. P). With a new normal comes a new menu, and Maduro is thrilled to reacquaint guests and music lovers alike through a symphony of music-inspired tipples to tell a tale of tune and time.
Tucked away in Dempsey Hill amongst lush greenery, Maduro offers guests a haven to enjoy the peaceful serenity away from the city crowds. With picturesque views, this one-of-a-kind cocktail lounge holds Mr. P’s love for classical and jazz music.
A six-month closure and a global pandemic certainly gave the team a lot to think about. What is Maduro in a world without live music? With an empty stage and a silence to fill, they looked to the bar for answers and to reignite the flame Mr. P has for music and Maduro. The new cocktail menu, The Trouble Clef, seeks to encapsulate that.
Composed with a ballad of nine cocktails, the new menu is crafted with a beautiful concoction of Maduro, Mr. P and his music. Directed by Bar Manager Rajesh Kumar, the new cocktail menu draws inspiration from Mr. P’s beautiful compositions from his album, A Journey with My Friends, which pays homage to old memories and individuals who have significantly impacted his life. Each drink represents a love letter to Maduro and the team that makes them who they are.
The Trouble Clef presents cocktails, including the Oblivion on Himalayan, which has citrus, salty and sweet candy-like breath freshener made with Smokelab Vodka, citrus medley and lemon essence served with a delicious meringue.
Strange Fruit, which is inspired by Nina Simone and Billie Holiday’s rendition of the poem, is a floral, comforting, tangy twist on a classic Hot Toddy. Exploring a tea brewing method and is made with a gin instead of the usual whiskey, this unique curation is made with Stranger & Sons Gin, earl grey tea, peppermint, citruses, lavender, honey and apple cider vinegar.
Other highlights include Cereal Notes, a dessert cocktail influenced by Mr. P’s sweet tooth and draws inspiration from a Chocolate Martini with the spotlight being on the cereal and is made with Skyy Vodka, cereal, milk, cacao and simple syrup and Pina-play, for the adventurous and spice lovers. This cocktail is an elevated version of the common favourite, Daiquiri, with a nudge of ghost pepper, Plantation 3 Star Rum, spiced pineapple and an orange forward citrus medley.
“This is the first menu at Maduro we’ve curated that is beautifully influenced by the story of Mr. P and his love for the arts and jazz,” says Rajesh Kumar, Bar Manager of Maduro. “When creating the menu, I wanted to deviate from the norm and pushed myself to think as far out of the box I could. With these creations, I want our guests to enjoy cocktails the way they would with a ballad, with each note and drink adding to the experience and also for them to see the beauty in Maduro the way Mr. P has.”
