Food enthusiasts in Singapore have a new destination to add to their must-visit list. MoVida, Australia’s best-known hatted Spanish restaurant, has opened its first standalone tapas and wine bar at Raffles City on 1 August 2024. This exciting new venue promises to bring the vibrant flavours of Spain to the heart of Singapore, following its successful debut at Surrey Hills Grocer One Holland Village in March 2024.

MoVida Singapore: An Ambience that Evokes Spain

Step into MoVida Singapore and be transported to a rustic underground wine cellar with its brick-red walls and stone-textured ceiling. The setting is perfect for both intimate dates and gatherings with friends. With seating for 56 patrons, the warm and inviting ambience is a sanctuary for those seeking an authentic Spanish dining experience in the bustling city.

MoVida Singapore: Culinary Legacy Brought to Life

MoVida’s journey began in Melbourne in 2003, where it quickly gained a reputation for its delectable tapas and sharing plates, crafted using Australian ingredients to deliver authentic Spanish flavours. Now, under the leadership of Chef Adrian Clemmens, the former Head Chef and founding team member of MoVida Original, MoVida Singapore continues this legacy with the same high standards and distinctive personality that have made it a culinary icon in Australia.

MoVida Singapore: Signature Dishes to Savour

At MoVida Singapore, tapas takes centre stage with an array of dishes, including some exclusive to Singapore. Highlights include the Abalon (S$16) – farmed abalone grilled over charcoal and finished in a rich butter emulsion, the Croqueta de Langosta (S$12) – lobster croquettes with a crunchy coating and a creamy centre, and the Tartaleta (S$8) – a delicate tartlet filled with chicken liver parfait and a hint of tangy verjuice.

For those with a heartier appetite, the menu offers raciónes or main dishes like the cult classic Paella De Señorito (S$75) – paella with bomba rice and a medley of deshelled seafood including calamari, fish, and smoked prawns, the Cecina (S$32) – tender air-dried Wagyu beef served with truffle potato foam and a poached egg, and the Canalones (S$34) – Catalan-style canalones filled with duck, porcini, and Manchego cheese baked in a nutmeg, brandy, and truffle velouté.

MoVida Singapore: Wines That Complement the Cuisine

No Spanish meal is complete without a fine wine, and MoVida Singapore offers a thoughtfully curated selection. Whether you prefer a sparkling wine like the 2019 Celler ‘Les Voranes’ Brut Nature Cava Penedes, a light white such as the 2020 ‘Vaguera’ Dona Blanca Toro, or a robust red like the 2018 ‘El Lance’ Listán Negro Blend Tenerife, you’re sure to find the perfect accompaniment to your meal.
