Robotic Dinos Took Over Hong Kong Harbour City & Times Square

To celebrate the 25th Anniversary of the Establishment of The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, First Initiative Foundation (FIF) joined hands with the Leisure and Cultural Services Department in presenting a large-scale exhibition “The Hong Kong Jockey Club Series: The Big Eight – Dinosaur Revelation” from July 2022, showcasing original specimens of the most iconic fossil skeletons.  

What’s more, Wharf malls are also working with FIF to present “Flash Pop-up: Robotic Dinos” to display two 1:1 robotic dinosaur installations — the Tyrannosaurus rex (T-rex) and Stegosaurus, respectively at the Group’s flagship retail properties Harbour City and Times Square. As Hong Kong’s first large-scale outdoor exhibitions after the fifth wave of COVID-19, the public are invited to meet these two giants at no fee, take photos and participate in a series of dinosaurs-themed activities.

Harbour City showcases the fearsome 4.6M high x 12M long T-rex at “Ocean Terminal Deck” on 7 June to 17 July, while Times Square showcases famous Thagomizer tall bearing Stegosaurus that is 3.7M high x 9M long at “Open Piazza” on 7 June to 10 July. These pre-historic animals are scientific accurate and custom-built, which were reconstructed under the supervision of paleontologists and with the latest scientific knowledge about these animals.  They do not only look alive – they breathe and roar just like real living animals.

Visitors can take pictures with the fascinating creatures for free, with the iconic Hong Kong backdrop — Victoria Harbour from Tsim Sha Tsui and the bustling city in Causeway Bay. Apart from this, the two shopping malls also organize an array of dinosaur-themed activities, allowing you to experience the dinosaur world in an all-around way. All proceeds of the activities will be donated to First Initiative Foundation (FIF).

Robotic Dinos – Enroll Now To be a Little Dinosaur Expert

How can the little dinosaur fans miss the rare chance to explore the prehistoric planet? The little dinosaur fans can become dinosaur experts! On every weekend during the exhibition period, kids can participate in the “Robotic Dinosaur Workshop” (around 40 minutes) with a donation of HK$180. The founder of “Dinosaur @ Fossil Lab”, Mr. Lung Tak Chun and his team will teach the participants the history and knowledge of dinosaurs in the Cretaceous and Jurassic, and train a new generation of “Little Dinosaur Experts” in this workshop. Participants can learn about and get up close with paleontological fossils, take pictures with precious paleontological fossils, and use their creativity and imagination to draw their own dinosaurs. After the completion of the workshop, participants will receive special souvenirs.

Robotic Dinos – Dinosaur Hunt! 

Kids love a treasure hunt! Starting from 10 June to 17 July 2022 (every Friday, Saturday, Sunday and public holiday), visitors can receive a dinosaur folder and a “Dinosaur Hunting Passport” upon a donation of HK$20 at the starting point of Dinosaur Hunt at G/F, Ocean Terminal, Harbour City.

All dinosaur hunters are required to follow the instructions to explore the dinosaur stamps scattered in eight different corners of Ocean Terminal, collect all the designated dinosaur-cartoons stamps and answer the questions at each corner. Visitors can redeem a set of eight dinosaur flashcards and a Dinosaur Hunter Certificate upon completion of tasks.

Each flash card is printed with the various dinosaur portraits, attributes and power levels, which are highly collectible.

Robotic Dinos – Dinos Fiesta @ Times Square

Father’s Day is approaching, and it is always good to start an adventure with your Super Hero Dad!
