Mount Faber Leisure Group’s highly anticipated new attraction, SkyHelix Sentosa, will open ahead of schedule on 15 December 2021, in time for the school holidays and year-end celebrations. It is Singapore’s highest open-air panoramic ride and will be the first carbon-neutral attraction on Sentosa. Tickets are now available for purchase on Mount Faber Leisure Group’s website.
Located within the collection of attractions at Imbiah Lookout, SkyHelix Sentosa is an unforgettable gondola ride that reveals breathtaking views as it gently rotates 35 metres above ground along a vertical helix-like structure. Guests will enjoy unparalleled 360° sights of Sentosa and the developing Greater Southern Waterfront while dangling their feet in the air with a cool drink in hand. The ride’s apex is 79 metres above sea level, making it one of the highest vantage points on Sentosa.
SkyHelix Sentosa is a new landmark within Singapore’s evolving tourism landscape. Through the launch of this attraction, Mount Faber Leisure Group seeks to contribute to Singapore’s vision of becoming a top sustainable urban destination by developing unique, engaging and sustainable leisure experiences around Singapore’s stunning views and beautiful nature.
Mr Buhdy Bok, Managing Director of Mount Faber Leisure Group, says, “As Singapore eyes a long-term goal recovery of its tourism sector, the opening of SkyHelix Sentosa signals a strong message of hope and optimism for the industry and the country. We believe that the panoramic views experienced on SkyHelix Sentosa will uplift and inspire diverse audiences across all age groups.”
Ms Thien Kwee Eng, Chief Executive of Sentosa Development Corporation, adds, “SkyHelix Sentosa will be an important milestone as we emerge stronger and better from the pandemic. It illustrates how the Sentosa community has come together to push ahead into the future, despite the challenges of the past year. SkyHelix Sentosa will join a diverse pipeline of new and upcoming Sentosa experiences, including wellness experiences at Oasia Resort Sentosa, an innovative perfumery experience at Scentopia, as well as the island’s new lifestyle destination, Southside, among various other exciting highlights. We look forward to welcoming more guests to Sentosa, as we bolster our position as Asia’s leading leisure destination.”
Ms Jean Ng, Executive Director, Attractions, Entertainment and Tourism Concept Development, Singapore Tourism Board, says, “As international travel gradually resumes, new attractions like SkyHelix Sentosa will enhance our attractiveness and signal to international travellers that Singapore is ready to welcome them. At the same time, it adds to the wide variety of family-friendly offerings that locals can enjoy. STB will continue to work with industry partners to support the development of innovative projects that add vibrancy and diversity to our tourism landscape.”
Just a short stroll from the Singapore Cable Car’s Sentosa station, SkyHelix Sentosa will be a captivating new addition to Sentosa’s compelling leisure experiences.
For each “flight”, guests will be seated in an open-air gondola for a 12-minute ride, which includes 10 minutes at the peak, during which the gondola will slowly rotate. During the ascent, rotation and descent, guests can enjoy a cool beverage exclusively created for SkyHelix Sentosa by the team behind the acclaimed cocktails at Dusk Restaurant & Bar located at Mount Faber Peak. The attraction will also offer unique ready-to-drink cocktails available for purchase at the open-air snack bar. Guests experience all of this while enjoying the sensation of flying with the wind in their hair and capturing picture-perfect moments on camera.
From morning to night, the attraction offers guests different views of Sentosa, promising a new experience with each ride. The beauty of the SkyHelix Sentosa structure also visibly transforms from day to night. After sundown, energy-efficient LED lights illuminate the attraction, making it a beacon of light on Sentosa and a stunning new addition to the Singapore skyline.
Tickets for SkyHelix Sentosa are priced at $18 for adults and $15 for children between the ages of four and 12. Each ticket will be bundled with a choice of one standard non-alcoholic beverage or an exclusive SkyHelix Sentosa souvenir. Alcoholic beverages and snacks are subjected to additional pricing.
To safeguard the health and safety of guests, SkyHelix Sentosa is available for vaccinated guests only, and accompanying children under 12 years old. Prevailing Safe Management Measures (SMM), such as group size limits and rigorous sanitising regimes, will be implemented. Guests may reserve their visit date and time slot when purchasing tickets. Members of Mount Faber Leisure Group’s Faber Licence annual membership programme will enjoy a 20% discount on tickets year-round.
The SkyHelix Sentosa structure is designed and constructed by French company Aerophile, a leading expert on high-point attractions.
The gondola is completely powered by three electrical winches that are managed on-ground. Safety measures in place include an electronic safety mechanism to ensure guests are properly secured, emergency brakes, and power supply systems. Guests must meet a minimum height requirement of 1.05 metres to enjoy the ride.
As an added safety measure, an attraction host will accompany guests on the ride to ensure safety protocols are followed while introducing the surrounding views and key landmarks as the gondola gently ascend.
SkyHelix Sentosa’s energy-efficient design utilises minimal electricity for its operations. Environmentally- friendly packaging will be used for food and beverage.
SkyHelix Sentosa will be the latest experience-driven attraction by Mount Faber Leisure Group, which underwent a brand refresh in September from its former corporate brand, One Faber Group. Cementing its position as one of Singapore’s leading leisure operators, the refresh is a timely reaffirmation of its commitment to introduce new memorable experiences to delight visitors, and support Singapore’s domestic and international tourism.
Just last year, Mount Faber Leisure Group started its Gai Gai Tour, a two-hour guided heritage tour to encourage locals to explore the wonders around Mount Faber Park and Faber Point. Arbora Hilltop Garden & Bistro, Mount Faber Leisure Group’s unique hilltop garden dining experience, was refreshed in September 2020 — introducing a brand-new indoor dining area and new menu with botanical-inspired food and drinks.
