Begin the meal with appetisers. Relish the fresh, pronounced taste of the seafood with the Crispy Fried Fresh Oyster (S$11.80), which is an addictive meal starter. Boasting a golden-brown exterior that gives way to juicy squirts when bitten into, the Vietnamese Spiced Battered Squid (S$12.80) hits just the right note of savouriness and spiciness. For the Stuffed Air-flown Hokkaido Squid with Vietnamese Dressing (S$12.80), the stuffing is made with tender minced chicken. It is served with homemade Vietnamese-style green chilli sauce, which boasts a spicy-sour note.
Juicy and crunchy with every bite, the Homemade Crunchy Water Chestnut Meatballs (S$9.50) is a marriage of minced chicken and water chestnut. Fried to a golden-brown exterior, the Crispy Wings (S$10.80) are topped with garlic and drizzled with a dash of spring onion oil. For a healthier choice, opt for the Grilled Beef Salad (S$12.50), which is accompanied with a sweet and spicy dipping sauce.
Fans of vermicelli will have various options to choose from. The Vermicelli Noodle Soup with Stuffed Fresh Hokkaido Squid (S$12.50) is a comforting bowl — the noodle soup is delicate and light while the stuffed squid delivers a savoury punch. Or go with the dry option: Crispy Vermicelli & Fresh King Prawns with Superior Stock Gravy (S$16.50). With delightful flaky edges, the vermicelli is enlivened by a moreish gravy and topped with irresistible king prawns.
If you need to load up on carbo, So Pho offers a few mainstays. Kissed with a pleasing smoky finish, the Egg Fried Rice with Premium Marbled Beef (S$19.50) features fragrant egg rice tossed with striploin beef imported from Australia. The Vietnamese Spicy Braised Chicken (S$13.50) showcases fork-tender chicken meat with an appetising braising sauce. Served with crackers, rice and egg, the Vietnamese Soy Sauce Sauteed King Prawn (S$16.50) features succulent prawns stir-fried with red, green and yellow bell peppers and garnished with parsley. The meat can be changed to sauteed beef as well.
Soused in a gorgeous sauce, the Bún Noodle with Meatballs & Fried Spring Rolls (S$11.80) offers vermicelli-style noodles topped with two Vietnamese delicacies: meatballs and deep-fried spring rolls. No trip to a Vietnamese restaurant would be complete without trying the pho offerings. The Pho Chicken Noodle Soup with Chicken Meatballs (S$11.80) requires 10 laborious hours of boiling chicken bone with a mixture of herbs.
So Pho has also came up with three new coffee offerings, each robust in flavour and filled with notes of almond! The authentic Vietnamese Egg Coffee (S$6.50) is brewed with egg yolks, sugar, condensed milk and coffee beans. There is also the Vietnamese Coconut Coffee (S$6.50), with the coconut imparting a subtle sweetness. Savour the Vietnamese Affogato Espresso with Ice Cream (S$7.50) – the earthiness of the espresso plays well with the sweetness of the ice cream. Awaken your senses with these beverages!
